Witney blanket
Description Woven wool cream blanket with single blue stripe; made on a hand
loom 1892, and used until 1937. Folded and packed in sellophane
with advertising card which reads: 'Look at this Witnedown
Blanket After 45 Years This blanket was woven on a hand loom in
the year 1892 and had been in constant use until April 1937
Witnedown Blankets of Yesterday'
Background This blanket was obviously packaged to use as an advertising
tool at an exhibition for display to highlight the hardwearing
qualities of the blankets.
